Jacaranda FM, formerly known as Jacaranda 94.2, is a popular radio station in South Africa that caters to both English and Afrikaans speaking listeners. With a weekly reach of over 2 million people and a monthly digital following of over 1.1 million, the station has a strong presence in the provinces of Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West. The station’s format is geared towards a mainstream audience and features a playlist of hit music from across the decades, including the 80s, 90s, and current chart-toppers.

The station first hit the airwaves on January 1st, 1986, with a special broadcast from a New Year’s Eve celebration in Pretoria City Hall. Its creation was a result of the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s restructuring of their regional radio portfolio, following the discontinuation of the popular Springbok Radio at the end of 1985. The existing three regional services, Radio Good Hope, Radio Port Natal, and Radio Highveld, were expanded with the addition of three new services, including Jacaranda FM, Radio Oranje, and Radio Algoa.
